I run a career development focused mentoring program that matches students with alumni/career professionals. I am wanting to include some diversity elements in my mentee and mentor applications. I have been working with offices that work with underrepresented students (students of color, international students and first generation students). We want to partner so that they can motivate students to join our mentoring program as well as recruit alumni. I am looking for examples of applications where those self identifying questions are asked to the mentees and mentors.

I am Dr. Severina M. Villegas, an educator by profession. I am currently a mentoring consultant at our University of Asia and the Pacific (UA&P. I am planning to join IMA conference on March 14-16, 2011. Herewith are my queries:
    a. Is it possible for me to share our good mentoring practices at our university (UA&P) during the conference: plenary or concurrent/break-out sessions?
    b. I am interested to eventually be in IMA Board of Directors. You can have an Asian representative. Is this possible? I am an IMA member. I enrolled months ago.
    c. When will you post the details of the 2012 conference (conference fee, lodging, program flow, etc...)?

Looking forward to your reply. Best regards....

In each of the fifteen points summarized as part of the interview with Don Holt, one could ask the question: "To what degree and in what way does this point apply to a mentoring relationship?" The answers to this question would contribute to a great dialogue between a mentor and the person being mentored, and could serve as a catalyst for discussion in journalism mentoring programs as well as other career-focus areas.
